David Hughes

David Hughes

David started his career at DTZ where he undertook a variety of valuation work in the UK and Europe for a variety of clients. He also specialised in asset management and lease consultancy, and was Account Director to various corporate occupiers and long income funds. He then spent nearly ten years at Lloyds Bank where he initially managed the real estate aspects of distressed real estate, working very closely with administrators, fixed charge receivers, sales agents and valuers to optimise recovery options. Then he became Head of Real Estate Advisory where he worked closely with credit and risk teams in appraising the suitability of >£3 billion of real estate annually, as well as managing overall portfolio risk.

He regularly presented to the Bank of England and PRA on real estate portfolio risk mitigation initiatives. David is recognised in the industry as a thought leader in promoting the very best standards in the valuation industry.

Matthew Mason

MRICS, Director, Head of Valuation, South Wales

Matthew graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Summer 2006, then joined a leading private consultancy practice in Swansea as a Graduate Surveyor. He gained a PG Dip (Surv) with the College of Estate Management in Reading in 2007 and was elected to MRICS in June 2010. He continued to work in the valuation department undertaking a wide range valuation work for loan security, expert witness, accounts, as well as other professional and lease consultancy advice. Matthew grew the department significantly and became Head of Professional Valuations in 2015.

Sophie Wall

Sophie graduated with a BSc (Hons) in 2014 before starting her career at Strutt & Parker where she undertook a variety of work including valuation, estate management and landlord and tenant advisory services.  Sophie became a member of the RICS in November 2017 before moving to regional firms where she continued to work in the valuation departments undertaking a wide range of valuation work for loan security, taxation and private purposes.  In her most recent role, Sophie grew the valuation work significantly and moved to Certus to continue the growth of valuation services in North & Mid Wales and The Marches.

Giles worked as a valuation surveyor at C&G Plc for 15 years before moving to private practice in 2001 where he set up a Survey and Valuation division for Perry Bishop and Chambers, a well regarded Cotswold estate agency chain. In 2015, after a management buyout, he established Cotswold Surveyors, a business which grew to become a very well respected professional firm with offices in Cheltenham and Oxford undertaking survey and valuation work for a large number of private and corporate clients, over seven counties.

Having started his career at a national surveying firm working on valuations, estate management, CPO and general consultancy, Josh is a Member of the RICS and a Registered Valuer. Having joined Certus, he is now applying his well-founded expertise in the Greater Manchester, Cheshire and surrounding areas to value residential, commercial and agricultural properties for secured lending, taxation and advisory purposes.

Neil Kirk, MRICS

Director

Neil has significant valuation and consultancy experience, primarily specialising in residential development and the living sectors across Scotland.

He started his career with an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors, focusing largely on residential valuations.  In 2008, Neil joined DTZ, working within the Scottish valuation Team, where his remit principally related to residential, commercial and mixed-use valuations, from both an investment and development perspective. In 2017 Neil joined Knight Frank where he was the principal contact for all living sector valuations across Scotland, covering residential development, student accommodation, build-to-rent, residential investment portfolios, and valuations of higher value individual homes.
